I think it goes without saying that I love tradition with my girls. I love taking pictures of them on the first day of school. Always on the porch. Always with backpack and lunch bag. It’s my favorite. I do the same thing at the end of the year too.
Anya looks so grown up all of a sudden.
Stella picked this dress my friend made for her with superhero comics fabric as her first day outfit. Love it.
They had a great first day and couldn’t be happier with their teachers.
And these three. Still friends. Since pre-school!
I love this time of year!
They made it – kindergarten and 2nd grade are done and done! And, of course – it wouldn’t be me without a little documentation of the last day!
I love how put together they look on the first day of school – and the scrappy mess they become on the last day. LOL!
stella had a field trip with her friends to the train museum today. i can’t believe we’ve never been! but *free* is a really good incentive to go. it’s pretty cool inside. they even have trains you can go into and one that simulates movement like you are on a real moving train (insert nausea here.)
i didn’t take any pics in the train museum (wrangling kids on a preschool field trip takes a lot of attention), but i did get this one of the cutie-pies waiting outside.
they are such great pals and have known each other for about 3 years. i hope they know each other for a very long time.
after the field trip we went to a nearby park and ate lunch.
i think maybe the highlight of the day and what they were all waiting for was karate lessons. our preschool is getting 1 whole month of free lessons! it’s just about the cutest thing imaginable. the instructor, mr. oliver, is so great with the kids. he teaches them a lot about respect and honor and what karate really means: empty hands
stella is having so much fun with the classes. we just might have to figure out a way to continue past the free month.
stella’s preschool took a field trip to the fire station and it was so fun!
one of the moms in the preschool is a fire fighter, so we all got a personal tour at the fire station where she works.
the kids (and the parents) had such a great time learning all about fire safety and how everything works at the fire station.
each kid even got a chance to use the hose. so fun!
thanks to everyone at fire station #1. we really appreciate you taking the time to show us around and for keeping us safe!
at the end of the 2010 – 2011 preschool year, one of the teachers asked me to take photos of each kid as part of a little slideshow she was putting together. i had so much fun taking photos of all these cute mugs!
each photo was individually inserted in the slideshow to music. miss kelly warned me there would be tears. she was right. i’m a sucker for cute photos of kids backed by “somewhere over the rainbow” by israel kamakawiwo’ole.
i just love this preschool and it will be a bittersweet goodbye next year when stella graduates.
